Toyota had launched the Rumion 3-row MPV in the Indian market on August 28, 2023. It is basically the re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Rumion is a 3-row MPV targeting budget conscious buyers looking to drive home a family people-mover.

The Toyota Rumion is offered with a single 1.5-litre 4-cylinder NA petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox option. The overall styling of the MPV appears largely identical to the Ertiga, except for the few changes to keep things fresh. The cabin changes are very limited with no updates in terms of features.

Most value for money variant

We suggest you the G variant of the Toyota Rumion. This variant gets good comfort and convenience features. The features list include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front fog lamps, and height adjustable driver seat. It also gets keyless entry with push-button start/stop, telematics and auto AC.

The Toyota Rumion shares most of its interior & exterior features with the Ertiga MPV. It has halogen projector headlamps, LED tail-lamps, dual-tone machined alloy wheels and rear defogger. The feature list includes height adjustable driver seat, 60:40 split 2nd row seats with one-touch recline & slide, 3rd row 50:50 split with recline function and adjustable headrests.

It is fitted with a semi-digital instrument console, engine push start/stop with smart key, auto AC, remote keyless entry and cruise control. The MODEL MPV has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and 4 speakers & 2 tweeters.

Engine Specifications

The Rumion MPV is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Ciaz, Brezza, Grand Vitara and the Ertiga. This engine is capable of producing 101.6bhp of power and 136.8Nm of peak torque. The powertrain comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

In CNG mode, the same powertrain produces 86.6bhp of power and 121.5Nm of torque. Power is sent to front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Toyota Rumion MPV with manual gearbox is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 20.51kmpl. On the other hand, the automatic version delivers 20.11kmpl of mileage. The CNG version is claimed to offer a certified mileage of 26.11 km/kg.

Dimensions and Boot Space

The Rumion measures 4420mm in length, 1735mm in width and 1690mm in height. This 3-row MPV has a long wheelbase of 2740mm. The MPV has a ground clearance of 180-185mm, which is sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions.

The Toyota Rumion boot space stands at 209-litres with all seats in position. The luggage space is expandable by folding the third-row seats. The CNG version has no visible luggage space due to a CNG kit fitted in the boot.
